Evaluating Contextual Information for Wearable Computing
نویسندگان
چکیده
Does the use of a wearable context-aware computer increase task proficiency? User trials have been carried out in an attempt to answer this question. The study involves WECAPC software developed to run on the χ wearable computer. The trials demonstrate that a wearable computer with simple context-awareness yields superior performance to either Internet search or realworld activity. Thus, we conclude that the use of context does indeed improve user task proficiency.

Using Wearable and Contextual Computing to Optimize Field Engineering Work Practices
Industrial work, as performed in field engineering and manufacturing, is inherently different from traditional office work. Industrial work is highly mobile and physical, and involves continuous interaction between people and machines in settings such as factory floors, power plants, oilrigs, locomotive maintenance yards, etc. This domain has recently benefitted from a set of disruptive technol...

Small, body-mounted video cameras enable a different style of wearable computing interface. As processing power increases, a wearable computer can spend more time observing its user to provide serendipitous information, manage interruptions and tasks, and predict future needs without being directly commanded by the user. This paper introduces an assistant for playing the real-space game Patrol....
متن کاملA Framework for Evaluating Cloud Computing User’s Satisfaction in Information Technology Management
Cloud computing is a new discussion in enterprise IT. It has already become popular in terms of distributed technology in some companies. It enables managers to setup and run the intended businesses by avoiding excessive spending on computers, software and hiring expert staff, which proves to be cost effective. Cloud computing also helps users pay for the IT services without spending massive am...
متن کاملDesign of Spatialized Audio in Nomadic Environments
This paper describes an on-going research project at the MIT Media Lab, exploring the use of audio as a primary modality for nomadic computing applications. We are developing a framework for use on a wearable audio platform, Nomadic Radio, that presents dynamic information within a spatialized audio environment. The contextual state of the nomadic listener indicated by time of day, physical pos...

Introduction: Wearable electronic devices, which are based on Internet of Things (IoT) and big data computing, are able to continuously collect and process the physiological and environmental data and exchange them with other tools, users, and internet networks. Therefore, despite their potential benefits in health monitoring, they can pose serious risks, especially in breach of privacy. Hence...
